“In the beginning was the Word,” says the Gospel of John.
I have always found it fascinating that sometimes a single sentence, spoken almost by accident, can change the course of a person’s life.
That is exactly how Best Plan No Plan began.
The name came long before the brand itself.
It happened on Koh Phangan during a conversation with a man who was passionately insisting that everything in life should be carefully planned, calculated, and kept under control. After listening to him for quite some time, I finally couldn’t help myself and replied:
“Best plan. No plan. Koh Phangan, man.”
Silence fell around the table.
Then my Australian friend looked at me and said,
“Wow… What a meaningful motto.”
At that very moment, I heard my own words differently.
“This isn’t just my motto,” I thought. “This is the name of a project that doesn’t exist yet—but one day it will.”
At that time, I had no idea that a simple phrase would eventually become the name of the most meaningful project of my life.
My life has always been a journey.
First because of my parents’ work, and later because of my own career. For more than twenty years I worked in fashion—as a buyer, stylist, and personal image consultant—constantly moving between countries, cultures, and people.
Over time I discovered something important.
Life rarely follows even the most carefully designed plan.
What matters far more is having an intention, staying open, adapting to change, and leaving enough space for those unexpected moments that often become life’s greatest gifts.
That is what Best Plan No Plan means to me.
By 2015 I felt I had accomplished everything I wanted in the fashion industry. I was exhausted and dreamed of only one thing: selling my apartment, moving permanently to Koh Phangan, and spending a few quiet years close to nature, immersed in spiritual practice, without constantly thinking about work or money.
I truly believed my life in fashion had come to an end.
But life—as it often does—had other plans.
Before long I caught myself constantly searching for beautiful natural fabrics, sketching clothes for myself and my friends, and becoming increasingly frustrated with the clothing I found around me: mostly synthetic fabrics, poor construction, and designs created for an average Asian body rather than the diverse people who had become part of my life.
One day I laughed at myself.
“I simply miss my craft.”
That was the real beginning of Best Plan No Plan.
Today, our project is seven years old.
We have survived a global pandemic and many other challenges along the way. We continue doing what we truly believe in: creating timeless clothing from natural fabrics in small batches, with the possibility of tailoring almost every piece to the individual person who will wear it.
Many of our designs are born through conversations with our clients. Their stories, their travels, their personalities, and sometimes a single unexpected request become the inspiration for entirely new garments. In that sense, Best Plan No Plan has never been just my creative journey—it has become a shared one.
Perhaps that is why, for us, clothing has never been just clothing.
It has always been a way to help people feel more like themselves.
If this philosophy resonates with you, welcome to Best Plan No Plan.
